This a re-post of an article I wrote on my blog. Many found this useful to combat forum spam if you used vbulletin software. Many of these spam fighting techniques will work with any software you use if they have similar settings.

To avoid ending on a spammer's mailing list when you post to a web forum or a newsgroup, you can disguise your email address by inserting something obvious into it. If my email address is me@example.com, I can modify it to read me@EXAdelete_thisMPLE.com, for example. I will not get spam at that email address since all messages to it will bounce, but people who want to send me an email can still do so after they remove "delete_this" from the address. Obscuring your email address does make sending mail a bit more difficult. But this is not always a disadvantage. Another solution to use email obfuscation service such as SpamSpan. Email spam is a major hassle to deal with. Everyone gets spam email, but, not many know what to do to stop spam from hitting their inbox. One of the things you can do which will also help others is to report the email spam you get to online services such as SpamCop. Here are the steps to report that unwanted email spam to SpamCop. I was chatting one day to a member of my board, about Traffic and why we don't have much.. I know we have slow times, and our traffic for regulars is not all that bad. He suggested the Forum Board, should be set up to act like a Computer and not a Human.. Anyone know anything about this. How you'd go about settings, etc.

I want to run a grand opening contest to kick off the official launch of Forum SEO Help. I know what the prizes will be, 1 vbulletin 4 suite license and 3 vbseo licenses, I just don't know what kind of contest to run or how long to run it. I have been thinking that I will have 4 month long contests and give out the vbulletin 4 suite license last. First 3 month winners get vbSEO and the 4th month would be the vbulletin suite license. The winners points would keep building so they could still have the chance to win the vbulletin license. Another option is to give out 1ST to 4TH place in a longer contest say 6 months. Let me hear your ideas. I would like to start this…

I have to admit to having some favorite skin/theme designers. It seems as if they just have a good eye for what works. But I'm also going to admit that Olivier has moved up near the top of the pack. This Cielo skin is really sharp and it may be finding itself on one of my own forums. Good choice, Bob.
