If you’re a social media fanatic like me, there’s nothing as shameful as missing a news while its fresh and hot. Social Media addicts try and remain updated with the breaking news and alerts and its more or less like the stock market guys constantly watching their tickers. I use a lot of tools to stay updated with the best happening stuff online and FireFox helps me a lot in that. Here are a set of tools that help me be the livewire. Of course, you can do these things manually as well, no obligations but professionals do it the easy and slickest way, is it not ?

1. Automatic reload of any page at every set time interval

We all know those websites that are the first to break news and alerts, there are only a bunch of them. And quite honestly, I lurk around them almost all the time I’m online. So much that I use this plugin to keep refreshing these websites at specific intervals of time. I could hit the F5 button once a while, but that’s too much pain http://www.dailybloggr.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif

2. RSS reader that site right inside FireFox

I know what you’re thinking. Google Reader works just fine, so why another one ? Well I use Google Reader as well, but this one’s more efficient, more quick, and easy to work with on the social networks. Believe me. http://www.dailybloggr.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif

3. Create a Live news ticker out of RSS feeds

This one’s awesome. It just creates a live ticker out of your RSS feeds that will keep scrolling near the status bar. So you don’t have to check for updates all the time on Google Reader. They’re always in front of you, just take a glance near the status bar once a while, and that’s it.

4. Bookmarks that shows what’s new in your subscriptions

If you’re the type who has lot of websites bookmarked on Firefox, then this one’s for you. Not one of my best favorites but it helps. The reason I don’t consider it in the league of the best is because its a bit slow. But I don’t rule it out as many updates which I miss out are notified by this dude even though a bit late.

- Easily see which Live Bookmarks have new or unread items

- Receive alerts when select Live Bookmarks have new items

- Mark Live Bookmark items as ‘read’

- Hover over a Live Bookmark item to preview its contents

- Click a Live Bookmark’s folder to quickly access its home page

- Use site icons (aka favicons) in place of the default RSS icon

So, there you have it. All those “secret” tools that puts you ahead of others in staying updated with news and updates.

Now, that’s value, is it not ? Hope you like them.
