  1. http://www.wolf-howl.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/scribe-offer.jpg I’ve reviewed Scribe SEO and mentioned it as a tool I like to use a few times here. If you’ve been thinking of using it but where concerned about the price, theres a promotional offer ending today. If you use the code PROMO27 when you checkout you can get the $97 level for only $27, but it ends June 4th 2010. If you’re still unsure they offer a new starter plan for only $17 a month you can only put it on one website a month and run it 15 times, but it’s a great way to test it out IMHO. I still think you’re going to get the best value for your money with the $97 expert plan discounted to $27 with…

http://www.wolf-howl.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/ipad-social.jpg In case you didn’t already know, I’m the owner of an iPad. Like a lot of other people I didn’t get it when it first was announced: like everyone else, I thought it was meant to be a laptop replacement. It’s not. While you can use the iPad to get things done, be a content producer, and a publisher (look for more details in an upcoming post), it really wasn’t meant for that (see iPad was made for everyone but us). It’s a consumption device. Having spent a few weeks with mine, I have a few thoughts about what makes a good iPad app and what you can do to get more out of yours should you build one. In my…

  5. http://www.wolf-howl.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/google-facebook-privacy.jpg In the past few weeks Facebook has been publicly criticized over privacy policies; however, when Google invades people’s privacy, the offenses don’t receive the same level of scrutiny or public outrage. Unless you had all of your attention focused on the Lost season finale, it’s been impossible to not know about the problems Facebook has been having with privacy . It had gotten so bad that people created infographics showing the erosion of privacy over time and the byzantine settings to control your privacy. This caused some high profile people like Jason Calacanis and Leo Laporte to del…

Some of you may know some of Scott’s other work from Search Commander, Inc. and the WP Core Tweaks Plugin. For this post, we’re going to be looking at his latest creation SEO Automatic for Agencies. The plugin is designed for agencies and SEO firms who run a lot of site audits and are looking to save time by getting a quick assessment of a website’s technical aspects and identifying any potential problems or issues. The plugin isn’t designed to replace a experienced SEO, but it does automate some of the grunt wo…

  8. http://www.wolf-howl.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/scam-listing.jpg Anyone who deals with the public sector will have to deal with negative listings about them in the SERPs at some point. The most damaging of these is the “scam” listing. In this post I’ll discuss some tactics you can use to handle them. In this age it’s inevitable that some will say something negative about you and you need a strategy to deal with it…I got the idea for this article when I read a post by Tim Ferris called Tim Ferris Scam – How to Deal With the Haters. 10. http://www.wolf-howl.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/kwd-focused-posts.jpg One of my constant criticisms of bloggers and the blogosphere in general is the sacrifice of keyword focus and the traffic it could bring when bloggers are more lyrical with their prose than they need to be. In my opinion that post meets the goal of being interesting while talking about a commercial subject… Last week I was reading an article in USA today (on my iPad) and came across an article that shows you can do both. After writing that article, I came across a local promotion. This promotion came from a local Italian ice shop. Now, you may not think Italian ices are a competitive business. But there are no less than three places that are about equidistant from my house. If, by checking using foursquare, I can increase my chances of getting a free ice now and again, I’d definitely use it and visit there. To be perfectly honest the $2-$3 isn’t the issue. What I am still troubled to see, maybe because I live and breathe this industry, is that social media still seems a place where businesses fail. Throwing up a fan page without knowing how social media runs or without interacting and responding to individuals, letting the page run on auto pilot is something I see far too often and are common online business mistakes. 18. http://www.wolf-howl.com/wp-content/uploads/ftp-ipad.jpg I recently became the new owner of an iPad 3G and, despite my initial skepticism when the device was first announced, I actually really like it. Truth be told, I actually like it more than my Asus Netbook. That said, if it can’t help me actually get work done, then it really is a toy. So I brought it along for my recent trip to Search and Social summit in Tampa to put it to the test. Whenever I go to a show I really try to take care of the heavy lifting before I go. But sometimes things just don’t work out that way. I had to take an image that was sent me via email and FTP it up to the server. So here’s how you d…

For those of you who might now know, EzineArticles is an article-marketing website. You upload articles to their system with two goals in mind: syndicating your content to gain links and hosting conten…

  22. Yahoo! · Started by AWS,

Is being listed in Yahoo of any importance? A few years ago a link in the Yahoo directory was worth it's weight in gold. Now it doesn't seem to drive any traffic or very little traffic to the sites that I have listed there. Also the number of visitors I get from the pages listed in Yahoo search doesn't seem to help much either. What's your thoughts on Yahoo and do you think it is important to optimize for Yahoo?
